Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-10-06
Your privacy matters. This policy explains what information ViralScopeHub (the “Site”) handles, how cookies and advertising work, and the choices you have.
1. In-browser tools (information we do not collect)
The calculators, converters, PDF/image tools, games and skill tests on this Site run in your web browser. The numbers, text, files and images you enter are processed on your device and are not uploaded to or stored on our servers for those features. You do not need an account to use tools, games, scores or guides.
2. Information stored on your device
Some features save data locally using your browser’s storage (localStorage) so they can work properly — for example theme choice, game high scores, notepad text and cookie-consent choice. This stays on your device and is not sent to us. You can remove it by clearing site data.
3. Community accounts (Cloudflare D1)
The community is optional. If you create an account, we store in a Cloudflare D1 database:
- Username and password (passwords only as salted PBKDF2 hashes; we do not require an email to sign up).
- Posts, comments and images you publish (public), plus private votes, saved posts and notifications.
- A one-way hash of your IP address for spam prevention and rate limits (never the raw IP).
- One essential session cookie (
vsh_cm, HttpOnly, up to 30 days) when you log in.
To delete your account, use the contact form with your username. See also the community rules.
4. Contact form (Cloudflare D1)
When you use the contact form, we store your message, topic, referring page, timestamp and, only if you enter them, your name and email. We also keep a one-way IP hash and use a honeypot field to limit spam. Messages sit in Cloudflare D1, are readable only by site administrators, and are used only to reply and improve the Site. We do not sell them or add you to a mailing list. We delete messages when no longer needed and within 12 months at the latest, or sooner on request.
5. Hosting and Cloudflare analytics
The Site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may process technical data such as IP addresses to deliver pages and protect against abuse. We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics (privacy-oriented; may load a small script from Cloudflare) to understand aggregate traffic such as page views and referrers. It is not used to build an advertising profile of you. See Cloudflare’s own privacy documentation for details.
6. Log files
Our hosting provider may record standard server logs (IP address, browser type, referring page, date and time) for security, troubleshooting and basic statistics.
7. Cookies and consent
Cookies are small text files on your device. The Site itself does not use cookies to identify you except the essential community login cookie (section 3), set only if you log in. Third-party advertising partners may set cookies as described below.
When you first visit, a banner asks whether you accept non-essential cookies. Your choice is saved in local storage as vsh-consent. You can change it with Cookie settings in the footer. If you choose “Essential only”, we will not load personalised advertising cookies.
8. Advertising (Google AdSense) — cookie placeholder
We may show ads served by Google AdSense and similar partners to keep the Site free. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this Site or other sites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to this Site and/or other sites on the Internet.
AdSense cookie note (placeholder until ads are live): when AdSense is enabled, advertising cookies (for example Google’s IDE / DoubleClick cookies and related identifiers) may be set on your device after you accept non-essential cookies. Those cookies help show and measure ads. We do not control third-party cookies; their policies apply.
You can opt out of personalized advertising via Google’s Ads Settings, www.aboutads.info / AboutAds opt-out, or the Network Advertising Initiative. See also How Google uses information from sites that use its services. In the EEA, UK and Switzerland we will request consent through a Google-certified CMP before personalised ads or non-essential cookies.
9. Children’s privacy
The Site is for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 where that is the applicable age). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will help remove it. Community accounts require users to be at least 13.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example GDPR, UK GDPR or CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete or object to processing of personal data, and to withdraw consent. Data we hold ourselves is mainly community accounts and contact messages (sections 3–4). For advertising partners, use the opt-out links above. Requests: contact form.
11. Third-party links
The Site may link to external websites (exam boards, leagues, news sources). We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. Share buttons are plain links; nothing loads from those networks until you click.
12. Security
We serve the Site over HTTPS. Passwords are hashed; IPs are stored only as one-way hashes where used. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
13. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top shows the latest version.
