Syllabus / format overview
- Prelims: GS Paper I (counted for shortlist) + CSAT Paper II (qualifying).
- Mains: Essay, GS I–IV, Optional (two papers), language papers (qualifying).
- Personality Test (interview) for candidates who clear Mains.
- Build notes from the official syllabus PDF on upsc.gov.in — do not invent topics.
Study plan
- Weeks 1–2: Map the official syllabus; finish NCERT-level polity, economy and modern history basics in Pomodoro blocks.
- Weeks 3–4: Current affairs + one optional topic daily; draft short answers in the online notepad.
- Weeks 5–6: Timed Prelims-style sections with the countdown timer; keep an error log.
- Weeks 7–8: Revise weak areas; one Essay or GS answer daily; check length with the word counter.
Tip checklist
- CSAT is qualifying — still practise enough to clear it safely.
- Read each official syllabus line; skip random “guess paper” lists.
- Use only previous papers published by UPSC on its own site.
- Sleep and revision beat last-day cramming.
