March 16
March 16 collects short history notes for families. The years on this page include 1581, 1585, 1815. Violent events and crimes are left off. Each line is a small true thing to ask about, not a whole lesson. February 29 is included so a leap-day birthday still has a page. Walk with the previous and next links, or open the March hub for the rest of the month.
- In 1581, Pieter Corneliszoon Hooft was born. Pieter became known as dutch historian and poet.
- In 1585, Gerbrand Bredero was born. Gerbrand became known as dutch poet and playwright.
- In 1815, prince Willem proclaims himself King of the United Kingdom of the Netherlands, the first constitutional monarch in the Netherlands.
