Medical disclaimer. This page is general education for adults. It does not diagnose pregnancy, anemia, dehydration, or menopause, and it does not replace a clinician, midwife, or dietitian. Get in-person care for heavy bleeding, fainting, chest pain, a severe headache, or a baby who is hard to wake. Read the disclaimer before changing food, supplements, or feeding.
How to use: Enter when the feed happened, which side, and how many minutes. The list is saved in this browser until you delete it.
This tracker remembers feeds you type: the date and time, the side (left, right, or both), the minutes, and a short note. It adds up the minutes dated today and shows the side on the most recent saved line. That is the whole product. It does not weigh a baby, it does not estimate ounces, and it does not decide whether milk supply is enough. Parents asked for a log that stays put. The log is the answer, and the medical judgment stays with the people who can see the baby.
Storage is localStorage on this browser, under the key vsh-bf-log. The newest 400 lines are kept. There is no account, no sync, and no request to a server when you press save. A different phone does not see the list. Private browsing and a cleared cache both start from empty. The delete button removes the key from this device after you confirm. Notes are plain text, capped at 140 characters, and they are escaped when the list is drawn so a note cannot become code.
Minutes are capped at 120 for one line so a stray extra zero does not pretend a feed lasted most of a day. Split a longer session into two lines if you want both recorded. Sides are only the three choices on the form. Today’s left, right, and both totals are sums of those minutes. They are a memory aid for the next feed, especially if you are trying to start on the side you used less. They are not a score, and a lower number on one side is not a diagnosis.
Public feeding guidance is wider than a stopwatch. The American Academy of Pediatrics and the World Health Organization describe exclusive breastfeeding for about the first six months when it is possible, then continued breastfeeding after complementary foods start. Patterns inside that advice vary by baby. Some feeds are short and frequent. Some are long. A newborn cluster of feeds in an evening can look alarming on a chart and still be ordinary. This page will not tell you that a day under a certain minute total is a failure, because no such cutoff is part of a log.
Wet diapers, weight checks, and how the baby wakes and feeds are the observations clinicians actually use. Pain with latching, fever, a red painful breast, blood, or a baby who is hard to wake or not wetting diapers needs a person the same day, not another row in a list. Formula, pumped milk, and donor milk are care plans a clinician or lactation specialist can help you build. This form has no field for ounces on purpose. Mixing a guessed volume into a minute log would look more precise than it is.
If you are pregnant and also logging feeds, the pregnancy weight page and the iron and water page answer different questions. Lactation raises the published water AI, and the iron RDA in lactation is not the pregnancy number. The feeding and sleep overview walks the first two years in age bands. None of those pages read this log. The disclaimer applies: a tool that stores what you type is still education.
Frequently asked questions
Where is the feed log saved?
In localStorage on this browser only, under the key vsh-bf-log. It is not uploaded and it does not sync to another device.
Does a minute total measure milk supply?
No. Minutes are a memory aid. Supply and intake are judged from the baby, including diapers and weight, with a clinician if you are worried.
Can I record both sides in one line?
Yes. Choose Both when the feed used both sides and you want one line. Use two lines if you want separate minute counts.
What if I clear my browser data?
The log is deleted with the site data. There is no cloud copy to restore.
Should I log every feed?
Only if the list helps you. Skipping a feed does not change the baby’s care. Pain, fever, or a baby who will not feed needs in-person help.
