CGPA to Percentage Calculator

Convert CGPA to percentage and marks to percentage for CBSE, universities and job forms.

How to use: Enter your CGPA and choose the formula your board or university uses. Optionally add marks obtained and total marks to get the percentage.

How to use the CGPA to Percentage Calculator

Enter your CGPA on a 10-point scale and choose the formula your institution uses. CBSE and many Indian universities use Percentage = CGPA × 9.5, which CBSE derived from the average performance of students. Some universities simply multiply by 10, and VTU uses (CGPA − 0.75) × 10. If your marksheet or university rules print a different multiplier, choose Custom.

To find a marks percentage, enter marks obtained and total marks: Percentage = obtained ÷ total × 100. The tool also shows the equivalent CGPA for that percentage using the same formula, which helps when a job or admission form asks for one but your marksheet shows the other.

Worked example: a CGPA of 8.2 with the CBSE formula gives 8.2 × 9.5 = 77.9%. With VTU it is (8.2 − 0.75) × 10 = 74.5%. Marks of 436 out of 500 give 87.2%, which is a CGPA of about 9.18 on the CBSE scale.

Always check the official conversion rule of your board or university, because employers and colleges sometimes ask for the formula they accept. For semester GPAs on the US 4-point scale, use the GPA calculator.
