Copyright & public domain
Our rules for hosting free classic texts legally.
ViralScopeHub hosts text only when we believe the work is in the public domain where we publish (copyright expired). We do not upload modern copyrighted novels, textbooks or exam papers.
How we decide
- Author death year: we check reliable sources (encyclopedia entries, national library notes). In India, life+60 is the usual rule for many literary works; in the US, pre-1929 publications are generally public domain; other countries differ.
- Source: we prefer Project Gutenberg, Wikisource and Internet Archive items marked Public Domain / Public Domain Mark.
- Gutenberg: when we reuse Gutenberg text we strip the Gutenberg license header/footer as their terms require and credit the source on the book page.
- Uncertainty: if we cannot verify public-domain status, we skip the book. We may list a title as “coming when public domain” with no text.
Takedown
If you believe a hosted text is still under copyright, email us via the contact page with the URL and evidence. We will review promptly and remove material when appropriate.
What this site is not
We are not a pirate library. We do not host Nanak Singh (d. 1971), Amrita Pritam, Gurdial Singh or other authors still in copyright. Educational tools and study guides on this site are original explainers, not scanned commercial books.
