How to use the HEIC to JPG Converter
iPhones and iPads save photos as HEIC (High Efficiency Image File), which many Windows PCs, Android phones and upload forms cannot open. This converter turns them into ordinary JPG or PNG files that work everywhere.
Pick JPG for normal photos (90% quality looks the same as the original at a fraction of the size) or PNG if you need a lossless copy. Then select one or more .heic or .heif files. The first time, a free open-source decoder (libheif) of about 1.5 MB loads; after that each photo converts in a second or two on a modern phone.
Worked example: a 2.1 MB HEIC photo of 4032 × 3024 pixels becomes a JPG of about 2.5–3.5 MB at 90% quality, with the same resolution. Lower the quality to 75% for a file closer to 1.5 MB, or resize it afterwards with the image resizer.
Every photo shows a preview with its own Download button, and Download all saves them in one ZIP. All decoding happens in your browser, so personal photos never leave your device. Tip: on an iPhone you can also set Settings → Camera → Formats → Most Compatible to shoot JPG directly.
Frequently asked questions
Are my photos uploaded?
No. The HEIC decoder runs in your browser and nothing is sent to a server.
Can I convert many photos at once?
Yes. Select several files and download them all as one ZIP.
Is image quality lost?
JPG is slightly lossy; at 90% the difference is not visible. Choose PNG for a lossless copy.
Does it keep the photo date and location?
No. The new file does not copy EXIF data such as GPS location, which is often better for privacy.
Why does it take a moment the first time?
The free decoder (about 1.5 MB) downloads once, then it is cached by your browser.
