AI Depth Map & 3D Photo Maker – Free, No Upload

See how far away everything in your photo is, then watch it come alive as a moving 3D photo. The AI runs on your own device.

How to use: Choose a photo and press “Make depth map”. Bright areas are close, dark areas are far. Move your mouse or finger over the 3D photo to tilt it, then download the depth map or a frame.

Runs the open-source Depth Anything V2 Small model (Apache-2.0, via transformers.js) on your device. About 27 MB downloads once, then it is cached. Your photo never leaves this device.

How the AI Depth Map works

A depth map is a black-and-white picture where every pixel shows distance: bright means close to the camera, dark means far away. Phones use depth for portrait blur, and 3D artists and video editors use it for parallax effects, fog and focus tricks. This tool makes one from a normal flat photo using Depth Anything V2, an open-source AI model trained on millions of images.

Choose a photo and press “Make depth map”. The model downloads once and then runs entirely in your browser, so it works without an account. Photos are reduced to 640 pixels on the longest side to keep it quick on phones.

The 3D photo uses the depth map to move near and far parts by different amounts, the same “2.5D parallax” look you see in trending reels. Use the 3D strength slider to make it subtle or dramatic. Download the depth map to use in apps like Blender, or save a 3D frame.

Depth from a single photo is an AI estimate, not a real measurement. Glass, mirrors, the sky and very dark scenes can look wrong.

VSH take: most depth and 3D-photo apps upload your picture or hide the download behind a subscription. Here your own device does the work, so it is free and private. To keep it light for everyone there is a friendly daily limit of 15 depth maps per browser.

Frequently asked questions

Is my photo uploaded?

No. The AI model is downloaded to your browser and your photo is processed on your device.

Is it free?

Yes. No account and no watermark. Each browser gets 15 free depth maps per day.

What do the colours mean?

In black and white mode, brighter means closer. In colour mode, warm colours are close and cool colours are far.

Why is the first run slow?

The first time, your browser downloads the model (about 27 MB). After that it is cached and starts much faster.

Which photos work best?

Photos with a clear subject in front of a background, such as people, pets, streets, rooms and landscapes.
