FD Calculator – Fixed Deposit Maturity & Interest

Find the maturity amount and interest on any bank or post office fixed deposit.

How to use: Enter the deposit, interest rate and tenure. Choose cumulative (interest added) or payout (interest paid to you), and the compounding your bank uses.

How to use the FD Calculator

Enter the amount you will deposit, the yearly rate your bank offers and the tenure in years, months and days. Choose Cumulative if the interest stays in the FD and is paid at maturity, or Interest payout if the bank pays it into your account every month or quarter. Most Indian banks compound cumulative FDs quarterly; deposits under six months usually earn simple interest, and the calculator does the same.

Formula: maturity = P × (1 + r ÷ n)n × t, where P is the deposit, r the yearly rate, n the compounding periods per year and t the tenure in years. Payout FDs earn simple interest: P × r ÷ n each period.

Worked example: ₹1,00,000 for 5 years at 7% compounded quarterly matures at about ₹1,41,478, so you earn ₹41,478, an effective yield of 7.19% a year. On payout, the same FD pays ₹1,750 every quarter.

FD interest is added to your income and taxed at your slab rate. Banks deduct 10% TDS if interest at one bank goes above ₹50,000 in a year (₹1,00,000 for senior citizens). This is an estimate, not financial advice. Bank rounding can differ by a few rupees. Deposits are insured up to ₹5 lakh per bank by DICGC. Updated October 2026.
