How to use the Lohri Countdown
Lohri is the Punjabi winter harvest festival, celebrated the night before Maghi with a bonfire, songs, bhangra and gidda. Families throw til, gur, peanuts, popcorn and rewri into the fire. In 2027 Lohri falls on Wednesday 13 January, and the timer above counts down to midnight at the start of that day in your own time zone.
A family’s first Lohri after a wedding or the birth of a baby is celebrated in a big way, so many people plan halls, dhol players and sweets weeks in advance. The countdown helps you plan invitations and travel.
Worked example: on 1 January 2027 at 8:00 pm the countdown shows 11 days and 4 hours until 13 January.
Make a Lohri wishes card in Punjabi, Hindi or English with our free greeting card maker and share it with your family group. You can also count down to Gurpurab and the New Year.
