In brief

West Indies chased down 250 against India in Ranchi, finishing 252 for 4 with nine balls to spare. Shai Hope scored an unbeaten 102 off 45 balls, and Sherfane Rutherford added a fifty, in what reports called the second-highest successful T20 chase ever.

According to Al Jazeera and the Associated Press, India had posted 249 for 5, one of its highest T20 totals. Hope hit nine sixes and six fours for his second T20 century; his second fifty came off just 21 balls. It was his third century against India in four innings across T20s and ODIs.

The win levelled the five-match series at 1-1. The third T20 is scheduled for Sunday in Indore. South Africa’s 259 for 4 against the West Indies in March remains the highest successful chase on record.

India fell just short of 250 despite a late 83-run stand from 32 balls. Fans can follow live scores and series updates on our cricket scoreboard while the series continues.
