How to use: Choose one or more photos. The tool shows any hidden location, camera and date details, removes them, and lets you download clean copies.
Runs on your device. Your photos are read and cleaned in this browser and never uploaded.
How to use the Photo Metadata (EXIF) Remover
Most phone photos carry hidden EXIF metadata: the exact GPS position where the picture was taken, the date and time, the phone or camera model, sometimes even its serial number or the owner’s name. When you share the original file, for example by email, in a marketplace listing or on a forum, anyone can read it.
Choose one or more photos. The tool reads the metadata on your device and shows what it found, with a clear warning if a GPS location is present. It then removes it. JPG and PNG files are cleaned losslessly: only the metadata blocks are deleted, so the picture itself stays identical. If a photo depends on a rotation tag, it is turned upright and re-saved at high quality so it does not appear sideways. WebP files are re-saved as PNG.
Download each clean copy, or all of them at once. The colour profile is kept by default because it only describes colours. Note that WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook already strip most metadata when you post, but email, cloud links, Telegram files and many websites do not.
VSH take: before selling something online or sending a photo of your home, kids or car, run it through here first. It takes seconds, and your photos never leave your phone or computer.
Frequently asked questions
What is EXIF data?
Hidden information saved inside a photo file, such as the camera model, the date and time and often the GPS location where it was taken.
Does removing EXIF reduce quality?
No for JPG and PNG: only the metadata is deleted and the image data is untouched. Photos that need rotating are re-saved at 95% quality.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser, so the photos stay on your device.
Do social media sites remove location data?
Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp remove most of it when you post, but email attachments, cloud links and many websites keep the original file.
Can it remove metadata from iPhone HEIC photos?
Convert them first with our HEIC to JPG tool, then clean the JPG here.
