How to Make a Photo Collage Free on Phone or PC

A collage turns a handful of photos into one picture that tells a story: a trip, a birthday, a before-and-after or a set of products. You do not need to install an app or pay to remove a watermark. Here is a simple method that works on any phone or computer.

Step 1: Pick your photos

Choose 2 to 9 photos that belong together. Good collages have one clear "hero" photo plus supporting shots, similar lighting and a mix of close-ups and wide shots. iPhone HEIC photos may need converting first with our HEIC to JPG converter.

Step 2: Choose a layout

Open the Photo Collage Maker and add your photos. It picks a layout that fits the number of photos, which you can change:

• 2 side by side: perfect for before-and-after.
• One big + small ones: puts the hero photo first.
• 4, 6 or 9 grid: tidy and balanced for sets of similar photos.

Step 3: Choose the right size

Step 4: Spacing, corners and colour

Use the spacing slider for a clean border between photos, or set it to zero for a seamless grid. Rounded corners give a softer, modern look. A white background looks classic; a dark colour makes bright photos pop. Each photo is cropped from the centre to fill its box, so keep the important part near the middle. Shuffle photos moves each photo to the next box.

Step 5: Download and share

Download a JPG for sharing or a PNG for the best quality (see PNG vs JPG vs WebP). If the file is too big for a form or email, shrink it with the image compressor.
