How these calendars stay up to date

Where a good free API exists, the calendar pages use it. The Jewish calendar uses Hebcal, Hijri dates use the AlAdhan API, and Canadian and US public holidays use Nager.Date. We save a copy of each response inside the page, so pages load fast, work without JavaScript and are fully readable by search engines. Your browser then quietly re-checks the live service and flags any date that has changed.

Hindu, Sikh, Chinese and Christian dates have no free, openly licensed API that we trust, and India’s public holidays are not covered by Nager.Date. Those pages use static dates we verified by hand against official lists (Government of India, SGPC, Hong Kong Observatory) and against calculated moon and Sun positions.

Dates for religious observance can differ by community and by place. When in doubt, ask your local temple, gurdwara, mosque, church or synagogue.

Frequently asked questions

Which calendars are covered?

Hindu festivals and panchang, Sikh Nanakshahi gurpurabs, Islamic Hijri dates, Christian (Western and Orthodox), Chinese lunar, Jewish, and public holidays for India, Canada and the US, for 2026 and 2027.

Are the dates verified?

Yes. Each page names its source, and we compare official lists against computed astronomy before publishing.

Why can religious dates differ from other websites?

Many festivals depend on the Moon, and communities use different rules (moon sighting versus calculation, sunrise versus evening tithi). We show the official or calculated date and note known differences.

Do the pages update automatically?

Jewish, Hijri and Canada and US holiday dates refresh from free APIs when the site is updated, and your browser re-checks them live. Other dates are verified static dates.

Is it free?

Yes, everything is free with no sign-up.
