01 — Story
The brief
Word Guess hides a five-letter word and gives you six tries. After each guess, green means the right letter in the right place, yellow means the letter is in the word somewhere else, and grey means it is absent.
Type and press Enter, or use the on-screen keys. Those keys remember what you learned and recolor themselves. Random word is an endless supply. Word of the day is the same word for everyone on the same local date, and it changes at midnight.
Open with a guess that uses common, different letters. Spend the second guess on new letters instead of repeating ones you already know. A letter can appear twice, and the colors count duplicates: a repeat turns yellow only as often as the word still needs it. The list is common English, and any five-letter string can be submitted.
How to read a row
Green stays. Yellow must move. Grey leaves the keyboard in your head, unless the word uses that letter twice and you have only found one.
