RRSP Contribution Calculator

New RRSP room = 18% of last year’s earned income, up to the CRA dollar limit ($33,810 for 2026, $35,390 for 2027), minus any pension adjustment, plus your unused room.

Updated · by ViralScopeHub Team

How to use: Pick the year, enter last year’s earned income, any pension adjustment from your T4 (box 52), unused room from your Notice of Assessment, and optionally your marginal tax rate.

Estimate your RRSP deduction limit for 2026 or 2027 and how much tax a contribution could save.

How the RRSP limit works

Each year’s new RRSP room is the lesser of 18% of your previous year’s earned income and that year’s dollar limit, reduced by pension adjustments from workplace plans. Unused room carries forward. Your exact figure is on your latest Notice of Assessment.

RRSP dollar limits (CRA)

2024$31,560
2025$32,490
2026$33,810
2027$35,390

Tax saved is roughly contribution × marginal tax rate; find yours with the Canada income tax calculator. Compare with the TFSA room calculator.

VSH take: RRSPs usually help most when your tax rate now is higher than it will be in retirement.
