How to use the Blur Part of a Video
Before sharing a video publicly, it is smart to hide private details: a child’s face at a school event, your car’s number plate, your house number, a letter on the table or the date stamp burned in by an old camera. This tool hides one area of your video for its whole length.
Choose your video. A sample box appears in the top-right corner; drag on the video to draw your own box over the area to hide. Use the slider underneath to move through the video and check that the area stays covered the whole time; if the subject moves, draw a bigger box. Then choose how to hide it: Blur softens it, Pixelate turns it into large squares, Solid box covers it completely, and Crop keeps only the area inside the box, for example to cut the edges and a date stamp out of the frame.
Press Apply. The video is processed on your device and saved as an MP4 with the original sound.
Which method hides details best?
For anything truly sensitive, like an address, a document or a face that must not be recognised, a Solid box is the safest choice because nothing of the original remains. Strong Pixelate or Blur look nicer and are fine for things like background faces or a car plate, but use a high strength. Crop is the cleanest way to remove a date stamp or a messy edge: draw the box around the part you want to keep.
Only for your own videos
This tool is made for privacy in videos you filmed or have permission to edit. It is not a watermark remover, and covering another creator’s logo or watermark to repost their video is not allowed on most platforms and can break copyright law. If you want to protect your own videos, add your own mark with Add Watermark to Video.
More privacy tools
For photos, Face Blur hides faces automatically, and the EXIF Remover deletes the hidden GPS location from pictures before you share them. To fix a sideways clip first, use Rotate Video.
VSH take: privacy edits should never require uploading the very video you are trying to keep private. Here everything happens on your device, free and with no watermark.

Frequently asked questions
Is my video uploaded?
No. The video is processed by your own browser on your own device, so it never reaches our server and no one else can see it.
Is it really free? Is there a watermark?
Yes, it is completely free with no sign-up, no limits on the number of videos and no watermark added, because your own device does the work.
Does the blur follow a moving face?
No. The box stays in one place for the whole video. If the person moves, draw a larger box, or trim the video into parts and blur each part.
Can I use it to remove a watermark from someone else’s video?
No. It is for hiding private details in your own videos. Removing other creators’ watermarks can break copyright law and platform rules.
What is the safest way to hide text?
Use Solid box. Blur and pixelate look softer, but a solid box leaves nothing of the original.
